Transportation Guidelines
The Transportation Department of Tuscarawas Valley Local Schools strives to provide safe, friendly, and on-time transportation services to students of the district.

 

Transportation Services and Code of Conduct

          It is the policy of Tuscarawas Valley Local Schools to transport eligible students to and from school. Eligible students are defined as: elementary, middle, high school, and public and private students who live outside the designated walking areas. Eligible students are assigned to a bus and are expected to follow the transportation rules and regulations under the school bus driver's authority and responsibility to ensure the safety and welfare of all school bus passengers. Student misconduct may result in disciplinary action, including loss of transportation privilege.

Rider Expectations

1.  Cooperate with the driver at all times; follow all verbal and posted instructions.

2.  Respect the driver and those around you; rude or discourteous behavior will not be tolerated.

3.  Talk quietly; be silent at railroad crossings.                                                                                

4.  Sit properly in assigned seat at all times.

5.  Keep hands/ head/feet and all other objects inside the school bus. 

6.  Eating, drinking, and gum chewing are not permitted at any times. 

7.  Use of tobacco prohibited at all times.

8.  Electronic devices shall not distract the driver, disrupt safety, or violate the district's Acceptable Use Policy.

9.  Cell phones are to remain OFF and out of sight.

10. Remove all headsets before entering or exiting the school bus. The bus driver is responsible for the safe operation of the school bus. Students choosing not to apply with the above rules/expectations will be referred for disciplinary actions.

Removal from the Bus

        The building principle or his/her designee is authorized to suspend a student up to ten days from bus riding privileges. School officials may immediately remove a student  from the bus if student's presents poses danger to person or property, or threat to the safe operation of the school bus. The superintendent may expel a student from bus riding privileges through the end of the semester and compliance with section 3313.66 oh Ohio Revised Code.

        In the event of adverse weather conditions or other calamity, Tuscarawas Valley Local Schools will communicate with the following local radio and televisions stations about the status of school operations:

Q:  Whom Should I contact with my questions/ concerns about transportation services?

A:  Questions specifically related to transportation should be directed to the transportation department at 330-859-8804.

 

Q:  What about questions regarding discipline?

A:  Questions about discipline should be directed to the building principle and/or dean of students.

 

Q:  Is it possible to have my child dropped off at a different location?

A:  For the safety of all bus riders, students must adhere to one assigned pick-up and one designated drop-off location. The transportation department cannot honor requests for alternate pick-up/ drop-off locations. Only locations specified at the beginning of the year on the student information sheet will be considered valid.

 

Q:  Why do I need to fill out the same information for each of my children when they ride the same bus?

A: Ohio State Law requires that each driver carry information about each rider aboard the bus. Please notify the transportation and school offices of any changes with student contact and emergency information.
